Research Assistant in Video Analysis - Leeds Beckett University

We are looking for a for a highly motivated Video Analyst to join the Carnegie Applied Rugby Research (CARR) centre, within the Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett University. In collaboration with the Rugby Football League (RFL), researchers from the CARR centre are undertaking the TaCKLE (tackle and contact kinematic load and exposure) project. The TaCKLE project started in 2022, and will continue to deploy instrumented mouthguards annually to all men’s Super League, women’s Super League, men’s Academy, and a sample of community teams. The TaCKLE project will collect head acceleration data on rugby league players, and is one of the largest projects of its kind in the world.

The successful candidate will undertake video analysis of match footage to both verify head acceleration events recorded by the instrumented mouthguards, as well as code tackles to describe the characteristics of head acceleration events. The successful candidate will manage and organise large and varied data sources, aligned with the TaCKLE project.
