Heading towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympics & Paralympics, it is an exciting time to join our High Performance (HP) Team, we are currently seeking to recruit a Chief Medical Officer (0.3 FTE).
About the Role
Australian Athletics is seeking a highly experienced Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to oversee and coordinate the delivery of world-class medical services within Athletics nationally. Reporting to the Performance Support Manager, the CMO will play a critical role in optimising athlete performance, supporting injury prevention, and ensuring athlete wellbeing.
Your core duties will include:
- Lead and coordinate the National Instiute Network (NIN) medical practitioners, ensuring elite-level medical care for National Athlete Support Scheme (NASS) athletes, implementing injury and illness prevention strategies.
- Facilitate medical planning and support for athletes to optimise physical and mental health.
- Ensure compliance with AIS SSSM Best Practice principles and National Integrity Framework policies.
- Drive medical research, innovation, and education within the high-performance system.
- Support National team medical services for the 2025-2028 Benchmark events (through to LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games) inclusive of staging camp and hub locations.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, inlcuding AOC, Paralympics Australian, and Commonwealth Games Australia, to enhance medical services for major events.
